Baking Memories Since 1946
The Diamond Bakery is an iconic Los Angeles Jewish owned business. Started in 1946 by Jack and Betty Segal. In 1969 it was sold to two couples, the Lottmans and Rubensteins, who met in Auschwitz in 1944 before liberation by the Allied Forces. After WWII, they immigrated to the United States and landed in Detroit, this is where they developed their skills as bakers. They later moved to Los Angeles where they founded a small bakery in Boyle Heights before moving to the current location at 335 North Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. Throughout the decades, Diamond Bakery expanded from a small retail operation to a fully equipped wholesale bakery. For many years, Diamond Bakery has supplied challah, babka, cookies, and their signature Racetrack pastry and Corn Rye to generations of Los Angelinos.
